About us:

ESB Telecoms (ESBT) is Ireland’s leading independent telecoms infrastructure and bandwidth solutions provider.

Since our launch in early 2001, we have been focused on exploiting opportunities in the Irish telecommunications market. We built our own 1,300 kilometre National Fibre Optic Network (NTFON), constructed in a ‘Figure of Eight’ around Ireland and comprising 48-core fibre, wrapped on the ESB High Voltage Network.

We own and manage over 300 telecommunications towers and sites on which all major Irish telecommunications companies have substantial installations.

Our network of fibre optic cabling and telecommunications sites and structures allows us to offer an unrivalled portfolio of bandwidth services (managed bandwidth and dark fibre) and infrastructure solutions (antenna space and ground rental).

Customers of ESB Telecoms include all the mobile phone operators, the Irish Government, licensed operators and wireless internet services providers.

We also have cooperative working relationships with Irish Government departments and agencies and with many Other Licensed Operators, Internet Services Providers and national and international Data Centre Operators – including Data Electronics Group, Telecity, ServeCentric, InterXion, Westpark Shannon, CIX and Esat BT.

The Emerald Bridge Fibres Network

With the launch of the Emerald Bridge Fibres cable from Dublin to Parc Cybi, Wales, customers can now link between cities in Ireland and the UK. The subsea fibre connection will allow businesses to connect directly from Ireland to Major Cities and Datacentres in the UK. This offers extremely low latency, best-in-class services and is fully integrated with the ESB Telcoms network.

Bandwidth Services – Overview

•Our 1300 km fibre optic network consists of 48-pair single mode fibre (SMF) compliant with ITU G.652.

• We offer access to the network at either its Points of Presence (PoPs) or, in certain circumstances, directly at the customer’s chosen location.

• Complete, end to end solutions from customer premises to Internet gateways and beyond, can be offered through partnerships with Other Licensed Operators, Internet Services Providers and Data Centre operators.

Managed Bandwidth

• Managed bandwidth solutions at very competitive rates.

• Point to point connectivity using SDH and Ethernet technologies at SDH capacities ranging from E-3 (34Mb) through STM-1 (155MB) to STM-64 (N x 2.5GB) and at 100Mb Ethernet.

• 16 Points of Presence around Ireland, co-located in secure buildings, battery protected DC power, air-conditioning, fire protection, water detection and access control.

Dark Fibre

• For customers who need long-term availability of very large bandwidth capacity and prefer to manage bandwidth themselves.

• Dark fibre pairs are offered at very attractive per km per annum rates, either for annual rental or on the basis of 15 year Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU) agreements.
